Entry: Entry Numer Uno! Mar 29, 2004

My first blog entry. Rah.

Got 'Pirates Of The Carribean' on the telly, but the volume is down as I have an old jungle mix on at the moment. The girl in this movie is tick! My mate was telling me she was born in 1982, which would make her slightly younger than I, and for some reason unbeknowest to me, that makes me think I am in with a chance. Ah, there's my misguided self-confidence for you. Johnny Depp shows his acting range and depth as...er...a camp pirate named 'Jack Sparrow'. Who writes this stuff, really?

A bit of old Rupert Parkes is filling the stereo soundscape between my speakers at the moment. Rupert, better known as Photek, used to make such lovely music back in the early 90's. The track playing at the moment is called 'Resolution' and it's off the first release on his own 'Photek Records' label back from 1994. Stunning track.

Now some old Source Direct under their 'Sounds of Life' guise is now creeping into the mix. 'Currents' was a very big tune for Paul Arnold's 'Certificate 18' label, and I can see why, with it's stuttering conga riddled percussion, cavernous sub base and foreboding strings. Pretty much every Danny Bukem mix I have from the early 1990s features this tune, or at least one tune off Certificate 18.

Why don't they make music like this anymore? *shake of the head*

Anyway, I could talk about music all night really. Probably should make my fist blog post a bit more interesting...

Work was busy today. The phone just didn't stop ringing. Managed to shift the paperwork from Friday which I had been avoiding off my desk, so that's a plus. Even though Scott denies it, I believe he DOES own a hairbrush and he DOES brush his hair before he comes to work. Looking forward to our go karting session in a couple of weeks. My desk needs a trophy (as I keep telling the folks at work - more misguided confidence for you! Ooh, the slagging I am going to get if I leave the track trophyless...)

My friends Lexy and Griff said I should start a blog. Apparetnly it's theraputic, but so far all I have managed to feel is slightly uncomfortable. I feel like I'm supposed to be talking to someone when I write this, but I know no one going to be writing back. Kind of like an email with no receipiants. Or an email with infinite receipiants, if you're a 'glass is half full' kind of optimist (which I am not - I reckon it's a trick question, and that there is no glass!)

I just noticed the HTML button down the bottom. Makes me wish I could write HTML. Another useful skill I probably should take the time to learn, but won't bother with because it's too hard. Well, probably not too hard, but my of my downfalls is that I give up on things a bit too easily. I'm going to stop looking at the HTML button now...

Found out my Nanna has breast cancer on the weekend. Got a call from Mum saying she's going into hospital next week for an operation, then will have 6 weeks of radiation therapy, so she'll be staying at Mum and Dad's for those six weeks. Bit saddended by the news, but apparently they have caught it early, so she should be alright and carrying on for a few more years yet...*makes mental note to call his Nanna tomorrow*

Played golf Sunday morning at stupid O'clock with Bates. Was a bit of a laugh, even though I didn't get onto one the entire 9 holes we played! That sad fact, combined with trudging around a course with a cart full of clubs made me a very tired boy upon my arrival home at 12, so napped for a few hours before dossing about on the computer and watching the Melbourne Comedy Festival on telly. Some comedians, mostly the ones from the UK/Ireland, were piss funny, but some of them sucked the big one (mostly the Aussie ones). I think the dry wit of the brits and the pisstaking of the irish appeals to me a lot more than the Aussie 'one liner' style. I just think anyone can pull a one liner off if it's funny enough - there's no challenge in it. But I'm no comedic talent, so I guess I should put up, or shut up.

I like a running commentary, a bit of a satire. That's why Billy Connolly is a fucking genius, because a lot of his material is just stuff that happens to him in everyday life. He's just got the gift of timing and is a very funny story teller.

Anyway, the comedy festival...yes, Lano and Woodley were on, whom I have always enjoyed. I think their physical comedy is just painfully funny, and would love to go see them live again. I will go next year when the Fringe is back on.

Switched over to my ragga mix now. Intro track is some old Kniteforce tune with some Supercat vocals through it. Ooh, now some old Kemet recordings. I used to know the female vocal this tune sampled, but I forget now.

Back to the blog. Hmm what else can I talk about? Oh, my truck goes in for painting on Friday afternoon. Very excited. The 'Toyota Pastel Blue' I picked out for it will make it look fucking minter I reckon. I'm avoiding the 'rice' look in a big way, with old school blue paint, minimal alterations to the body styling and some 'don't fuck with me' Weld Pro Star mags. 15x3 and 15x8. 3 words for you - Jesus. H. Christ. Lowered a little bit with those wheels and it will just scream 'tough'! Now all I have to do is save for the V8 to back up the altitude adjustment and wheels and I'll be set.
I never realised I was a bogan till I read that haha. Oh well, I imagine the V8 will never eventuate, and I will just be flogging it off after a couple of years, but it'll be a nice cruiser in the meantime. Will definetly need a CD player though...

I haven't been paying any attention to this movie really. I have seen it anyway, so I don't know why I'm so worried. Would like to see '28 Days Later' actually.

Thought about Kate a lot Saturday night. Probably why I was so freakin' tired on Sunday, cos I was awake most of the night thinking about her...plus it was hot as hell in my room. I love living here, but the way this place retains heat...bloody hell...

Anyways, my fingers have had enough typing, and I'm gonna go see what food I can scrounge from the fridge.

Erm, don't really know how to finish this off, so...yeh...until next time...
