Entry: Shattered! Apr 1, 2004

Howdy.

Er...

Who am I speaking to again? haha I can't get used to this, but I'm sure the more I post the easier it will become...

I'm gutted at the moment. Well, not literally, but it still sucks. I posted up my dancehall mix (see last entry) on a few various forums, and I just got an email from a party promoter asking me if I want to play a bashment set at his show called 'Platoon'. Apparently it's 3 rooms of drum and bass, hip hop, breaks and dancehall. 3000 capacity venue.

In Leeds.

That's Leeds, in the UK!

Yes, now you can see why I'm gutted. Who wouldn't want to fuckin play that show?! Bollocks.

I emailed him back and explained my 'locality' issue, and thanked him for checking the mix. Shattered.

This is actually the second bloody time this has happened - the last bashment mix I did I had a PM from a bloke down South London who wanted me on his radio show. Again, had to tell him I was from Oz. Gutted.

Oh well, that's life innit. I have the Easter show coming up where I can throw down some riddims, and if things keep going well, hopefully I get that slot at Chant Down in Melborune that Jesse and I have been talking about. Big up Jesse, proper safe geezer. Ooh, and I think Kym should have those CDs today or tomorrow, so that's another potential gig as well. Fingers crossed eh *puts on jetsetting DJ sunnies*

Got SWAT on the telly. Not a bad flick. Watched 28 Days Later and Ganags of New York. 28 Days was a good gore fest, but GONY really surprised me! I was a bit hesitant, but fuck me, Daniel Day Lewis was fucking spot on! Diaz has looked better, but I'd still give her one.

Didn't go to work today. Feel slightly guilty, but feel shithouse. Will make up a few hours tomorrow afternoon before I take the truck down to the shop.

Sean Paul concert was good fun. He did a few Marley and Tosh covers, which was good, as I was just expecting him just to do his album. The warm up DJ was a bit crap, and I made a point of showing Scott that 'look, no one dances to these crap scratch routines! Block party jams all the way!'. He disagreed, but I expect nothing less from Scotty :) He did play some nice reggae/dancehall tunes, but I think he quickly realised Adelaide isn't a big dancehall town. People lost it to UB40's 'Red Red Wine' and didn't utter a word to Chaka Demus & Pliers' 'Murder She Wrote'. Oh well.
