Got a message from Josh last night telling me about the Dub Warriors who are touring from the UK. Exciting news. Should be a good show. The reason I am having a whinge is because Josh and Daniel have been added to the line up to play drum and bass at this show. DRUM AND BASS!! AT A REGGAE SHOW!!??!!
This is why I hate this fucking town. How many reggae mixes and dancehall mixes have I done and put online for people to download? I have already done one dancehall show on radio, and will be doing it again soon, and I could be off to play in Melbourne at what is undoubtedly Australia's biggest reggae/dancehall night, yet they can't give me a one hour slot at a REGGAE SHOW here in Adelaide.
I have never been one to blag, so I'm not going to say anything (as usual), but I would have thought my enthusiasm for the music would have shone through with all the time and effort I have put into throwing up mixes. I mean, they can book me for reggae/dancehall at a drum and bass show, but they can't book me for reggae/dancehall at a reggae show?!
I suppose it's not that big of a deal really. I shouldn't disappear up my own arse over a lousy reggae show just cos I do a few mixes, otherwise people will start calling me Khem. I guess I'm just a little disappointed about not playing the gig. I will certainly go along and have a dance and show my support cos we need more shows like this in Adelaide. I should really pull my finger out and start getting orgainsed with the show me and Griff were gonna do, but I don;t have a money tree growing out the back unfortunately.
On a happier note, things seem to have been sorted with Kate. More email discussions earlier this week, but I am happy with the proposed outcome. I am not getting my hopes up just yet, as there is still a long way to go, but I think if we both want to make it happen, it will happen. Gotta keep working hard for the time being and we'll see what happens.
